On Distinctiveness and Symmetry in Ear Biometrics

چکیده
Previous works show that human ears can be used for identification, gender classification, and kinship verification have investigated whether there is a symmetry between person's ears; however, the performances been less than satisfactory. Our paper extends analysis of classification on ear images analyses bilateral ears, in both cases aiming to determine parts from which recognition derived. We use model-based deep learning methods capitalize structure performance, respectively. consider rotation under an affine transformation, by modelling as flat plane attached head. address question it possible given image one ear, person then recognized their other ear. Such symmetry-based strategy could reduce constraints applications biometrics. recognise with 90.9% success rate rim (the upper helix lobe) dominates performance. To investigate symmetry, we compare mirrored version achieve 93.1% CCR, current state-of-the-art, important regions different those determined gender. extend construct two groups images, contains same subject subjects. The 100% CCR confirms existence subject's ears. By these approaches actually high chance exists would prudent systems concentrate inner rather outer

Ear Biometrics
A new class of biometrics based upon ear features is introduced for use in the development of passive identi cation systems The viability of the proposed bio metric is shown both theoretically in terms of the uniqueness and measurability over time of the ear and in practice through the implementation of a computer vision based system Each subject s ear is modeled as an adjacency graph built fro...
متن کاملBipolarity in ear biometrics
Identifying people using their biometric data is a problem that is getting increasingly more attention. This paper investigates a method that allows the matching of people in the context of victim identification by using their ear biometric data. A high quality picture (taken professionally) is matched against a set of low quality pictures (family albums). In this paper soft computing methods a...
متن کاملEar Biometrics in Human
by Ping Yan Biometrics are physical or behavioral characteristics that can be used for human identification. Security plays an increasingly important role in our daily life, and biometric technologies are becoming the solution to highly secure recognition and verification of identity. In this dissertation, we propose the ear as a biometric and investigate its potential with both 2D and 3D data....
متن کاملOn Shape-Mediated Enrolment in Ear Biometrics
Ears are a new biometric with major advantage in that they appear to maintain their shape with increased age. Any automatic biometric system needs enrolment to extract the target area from the background. In ear biometrics the inputs are often human head profile images. Furthermore ear biometrics is concerned with the effects of partial occlusion mostly caused by hair and earrings. We propose a...
متن کاملE 3d Ear Biometrics
The human ear is a new class of relatively stable biometrics. After decades of research of anthropometric measurements of ear photographs of thousands of people, it has been found that no two ears are alike, even in the cases of identical and fraternal twins, triplets, and quadruplets [1]. It is also found that the structure of the ear does not change radically over time. Ear biometric has play...
